Breast Implants and Cup Size ~ Disasterous Expectations Come in All Sizes

by Terrye Tebbetts

Question~

I am 8 days PO and I feel like they have shrunk already. They looked soo big when I first got them and now I feel like they look smaller already. I feel like no one even notices…I love them and they are soo natural but I am afraid the swelling will continue to go down and I will only be a full B once all is said and done…I measure a 34 C right now…but I am a very small C.

Answer ~

This is another example of why planning your BA and basing your satisfaction of your BA on CUP size is dangerous.

There is no standard definition for cup size in medicine – there is no standard in fashion – they are different from store to store, style to style.

Your breast implants do not get bigger or smaller, they soften and settle to where they will eventually live in  your breast envelop.  This takes time – 4-6 weeks where they are too high (can’t stay there because you walk instead of float), 3 months before you can truly figure out your new cup size…..it takes time.  We try to prepare all of our patients and any women who simply read The Best Breast 2 for all of these post operative mile stones.  If you know what to expect – - – if it is not a surprise – - it is not a problem.

Going into a breast augmentation surgery with eyes wide open and realistic expectations and a foundation of information is essential to being a happy patient.  Our book seeks to help you do that  – before and after your operation, it is a good resource to have at your finger tips.

I hope this helps you get through the first few weeks with ease and less worry.
