I am not a big fan of imaging because you can do anything with a computer image – they take Angelina’s face and morph it onto Brad’s body for heaven’s sake! So the computer can do anything – that doesn’t mean your tissues can reproduce that!!
The Second Danger is that once we have seen something – we expect to get it! And if you look very carefully at those screens, they all have disclaimers…..This is not a guarantee of your result…..but once we have seen it, we expect it!
When dealing with a primary aug – the way for a patient to get a sense of what they can safely have with their best breast implants is to remember what they had when they were pregnant or nursing – because that is the maximal stretch that their breast has experienced. So if you want a BA and have had kids – there is your visual – that we know is accurate because it happen to your tissue. Those who haven’t had kids, have it a little harder in the visual world because their breasts have never been larger.
I hope this helps some – in the end, I think imaging is a slippery slope for patients!
