Choosing a Plastic Surgeon for Breast Augmentation? It’s not that simple!

by Terrye Tebbetts

Question ~

I have been on 5 consults and it has been rather easy to narrow it down between 2 surgeons, but now I am very confused on which one would be the best choice. How did you ultimately determine your surgeon without a personal recommendation? Is it worth is to go to a second consult with each?

Answer ~

This is pretty easy to me – given my High Five and 24 Hour perspective.

Look at
#1. How did they determine size and plan your operation? On stuff you want to hear, or real clinical criteria (REALITY)?
#2. What is the breast augmentation recovery like? The longer the down time, post op adjuncts (bras, bandages, pain meds), restriction of activity – - the higher the risk of capsular contracture and the longer the time off and expense to you

There are questions in The Best Breast 2 that will help you interview surgeons. Ultimately, every decision in this operation comes down to a VERY basic premise….reconciling what you WANT with what your body will REALISTICALLY allow you to have.

You should also look at experience, practice time, published works and speaking/teaching records.  You can also speak with at least THREE of his or her patients to be sure that all recovery stories are consistent.

And finally, you must be sure that that surgeon is listening to you, but also, being honest with you – - if they are telling you every thing you want to hear…..RUN the other way!  It’s not that simple.
