I saw another post on a forum today about using the Rice Test to determine breast implant size. I can’t believe women are really measuring out rice, putting into baggies and stuffing it into their bras – seriously??? Aren’t we a bit past this type of archaic exercise? There are scientifically published and proven measurement systems that eliminate all the guess work. The High Five System Dr. Tebbetts published determines the area of the empty space in the breast and when simply followed – the system is right every time. There is a correct amount of fill for every woman’s empty breast. This system gives you the correct amount of fill EVERY time. So if a plastic surgeon were to use this system to plan your operation, you would leave your preop appointment knowing that clinical, objective measurements planned your operation and that you don’t have to worry about whether he or she understood what you meant by a “Full C” – -no more worries – - because your body chose the size. Here’s the question I saw earlier today:
“can anyone give me the measurements for the rice test so I can get more of an idea for sizes. I am looking at the 350 to 400cc range. I am very confused about cc’s as it seems final results vary from woman to woman. I am very thin and have slight sag after breastfeeding my 4 wee cherubs, but my ps said 375 to 420 hp wld leave me with a DD/E!!! Eek!”
Here’s my response:
How big did you get when you were nursing your 4 wee cherubs? A really good idea of where the breast can go safely is where it has been stretched to before – so good idea of what would be “natural” on you and simply fill the breast would be close to where you were when you were nursing.
Now, patients and breast implant surgeons choose to ignore breast tissue limits all the time, but there are limits. If you ignore them and just stuff whatever into a breast, then your risks of stretch, bottoming out, edge visibility and traction rippling go up dramatically – you are getting that certain cup size you have been dreaming about at whatever cost and with no regard for the limits your body presents. However, if you use measurements and The High Five System and simply fill the empty space – you get a pretty, natural breast that is least likely to cause you problems and need for reopertation in the future.
So the Rice test and Sizers allow you to try something on – anything on – as your bra will stretch to accomodate it. Your breast tissue might not be as cooperative! Trust your body to help you make the size decision – then it’s self limiting and will never be too big, because your body decided – not your surgeon, not an imager, not a picture of someone else and certainly – - not a bag of RICE!
