Bigger is Better? Breast implants ~ 700 ccs, 2900 ccs, and then there’s the real world

by Terrye Tebbetts

I found this comment on a forum and it really struck a cord since I had just written the Bigger is Better? article earlier this week. I know the quest for bigger breasts will never end, and that’s great – it keeps us in business! However, there are limits. It was interesting to read that some answers pointed this lady to photos, suggested Jersey Shore stars for reference, even mentioned Heidi Montag as a go to visual source, then there was a mention of 2900cc implants (REALLY???) and then there were some voices of reason like this one – “Just some info from another tall girl…you may not need to go that big to get the results you want. Not all tall girls eat up the implants. I’m grateful i didn’t get to chose my size and went w what my measurements said was the best fit for me to reduce my risk of reoperation/complications.”

Here’s the original question ~

Cant find photos for 700cc+
I am having a hard time finding pics of 700+ cc implants – ive found a whopping 3. Any one have any shots they would like to share with me or point me in the right direction of a website? And for all of you wondering OMG those are so big, im 6′ and 150 so I can handle the big size, plus I have the motto “go big or go home”

Here’s my response ~

Often the numbers – alone – by themselves – can get really scary! After all, how are we supposed to know what cc’s or grams will look like on us? Why is it that one person with 300′s wears a C cup while another person with the same size may wear something totally different?

Some of the ladies that responded above made very good points – in that – breast size needed doesn’t always correlate with height and weight. That is why measurements of each individual breast envelope are so important. In our practice, Dr. Tebbetts uses the High Five System to determine the area of the empty space in the breast – by simply filling the empty space and not pushing tissue where it has not been, a natural looking breast is easily achieved and one that is least likely to cause the need for a reoperation long term.

The best thing about using measurements is that it takes the hard decision out of your hands, out of your surgeons hands and leaves up to your body to make the decision – - if your body tells you the size, it is never wrong. No more guess work and second guessing (wondering if your ps understood what you meant by a full C or not!). It’s a foreign concept to some, I get that, but boy, is it liberating!

I just revisited an editorial Dr. Tebbetts wrote about the greatest myths in BA 10 years ago – guess what the first myth is—-Bigger is Better – it is really interesting to look at his comments from 10 years ago and compare and contrast to what is still going on in today’s world of breast augmentation. We all entertain the idea of breast implants because we want bigger breasts, but everything has it’s place and time and everything has it’s limits – - in this case, your body IS self limiting…if you will just let it direct you.
