How soon can I be a Mom again after Breast Augmentation Surgery?

By Terrye Tebbetts

After deciding to do something really nice for yourself that you can’t do or change any other way….reality hits and all of the sudden you wonder, when can I resume normal activity again? Does anyone else have to know that I have done this? Do I have to tell my kids? What do I say to my baby when he asks me to pick him up??

Question -

‘Just wondering when everyone felt better to play and pick up their kids again?”

It will depend on what your plastic surgeon says about your breast augmentation recovery – - it is perfectly wonderful to get advice from us, but you cannot use that advice for yourself. Once you pick a surgeon – you pick their results, their risks and their recovery.

For Dr. Tebbetts – our recovery is very different – with 24 Hour Recovery techniques – our patients go home with no bras, bandages or drains, they are raising their arms above their heads, showering and going out the afternoon of surgery – they take the equivalent of Advil – - they can lift up to 35 pounds the day of surgery and more than that at six weeks. So if you were having 24 Hour Recovery and your kids weighed less than 35 lbs you could pick them up the very same day of surgery!!

My daughter weighed 33 lbs the day I had my Ba 10 years ago and I picked her up that night!

Whether you can do that depends entirely on the processes and techniques used in the Operating Room – - you must follow your surgeon’s recommendations because, trust me, every surgeon is different in the OR – - if they send you home with pain meds and say don’t move – - then you better pay attention.

If you haven’t gotten them already – call your ps office tomorrow and ask them for a copy of your post operative instructions that they will give you on the day of surgery – you just want them now instead of later – - that will help you determine what they have in store for you —specifically.

One of the things I love about 24 Hour Recovery is you never have to hold out your hands to block your babies from your arms — you can be a Mom immediately and I promise you, that is worth something!!
