What is a Breast Lift?
If your breasts are heading toward your waist, then that is when you obviously need a breast lift. But what causes a breast to sag? Ironically, often babies can cause a breast to sag! That is why I love this cartoon, baby in belly can often cause breasts to go to belly later. Now, there are certainly other things that can cause a breast to sag like weight gain and loss, and simply how your tissues react to weight over time. But one of the most common causes is excess stretch due to pregnancy and nursing. A breast lift, or Mastopexy, is a plastic surgery procedure that allows Dr. Tebbetts to basically put your breasts back in the right anatomical position.
I think the simplest way to think about what a breast lift will do for you is to think about what you do when you put on a bra. If you need a breast lift, then when you put on a bra you often have to lean over and nestle your breasts up into the bra cup. Once there, you like what you see; however, when you let them loose again…….well, it’s often not such a pretty sight. And it is very frustrating to look one way in clothes, but feel totally different out to them. A breast lift will fix this problem for you. By removing excess skin only and repositioning the nipple above the crease under your breast, a mastopexy is basically giving you the look you give yourself when tucked into a bra. So when they are up there naturally, all of the sudden so many different opportunities open up for you! How would you like to wear things like a camisole with a shelf bra, or just a stretchy tank, or even a backless dress without a bra? That is what a breast lift will offer you the opportunity to do.
High Five Measurement System® and Breast Lift
The High Five System of Measurement® is used to determine whether you need a breast augmentation (breast implant) or a breast lift. Dr. Tebbetts makes all decisions about how we treat a breast based on the measurement system. So there will be no guessing as to which operation is the best for you!
Our breast lift patients enjoy an even easier recovery than our breast augmentation patients and 24 Hour Recovery®! The same surgical techniques are used in both, but with a breast lift, we don’t have to disturb any muscle so mastopexy patients don’t even feel the tightness that our implant patients feel right after surgery.
So if I told you that you could get rid of tucking your breasts into a bra and still having it gap at the top, or get rid of how they disappear when you lay down, or get rid of that funny pointy thing they do when you bend over…….wouldn’t you like to see what a breast lift could do for you?
